Location and network data from the IPWho API.

Powered by IPWho’s IP geolocation API. This tool shows location and network data, not official Whois registration records.

What is an IPWHOIS lookup?

An IPWHOIS lookup finds information associated with a public IPv4 or IPv6 address. Depending on the service, IPWHOIS results can include IP geolocation, ISP, organization, ASN and network information, or registration data from an Internet registry.

IPWho’s free IPWHOIS lookup focuses on geolocation and network intelligence. Enter an IP address above to find its approximate country, region, city, coordinates, ISP, organization, ASN, connection, timezone and currency information.

What information does an IPWHOIS lookup show?

See the data returned by IPWho for a public IP address. Use the result to explore location and network context before integrating the API into your application.

IP geolocation

Explore country, region, city and coordinates where available. Location is approximate; the accuracy radius gives context for the estimate.

ISP and network

Find the ISP, organization, autonomous system number (ASN) and connection type supplied by IPWho. Missing details are shown as “Not provided.”

Timezone and currency

View the timezone and currency associated with the IP location. These fields can help you explore how IP context fits your product.

IPWHOIS vs traditional WHOIS

IPWho’s IPWHOIS tool provides geolocation and network intelligence rather than official WHOIS or RDAP registration records. Traditional IP WHOIS and RDAP services query Internet registries for information about registered IP address ranges and their holders.

IPWHOIS lookup FAQs

Is this an official Whois registration lookup?

This IP Whois lookup tool uses IPWho’s geolocation API to show location and network information. It does not retrieve registry allocation records, registration dates or registrant contacts. For official registration information, consult the responsible Internet registry.

Can I look up IPv4 and IPv6 addresses?

Yes. Enter one public IPv4 or IPv6 address without a URL, port or network prefix. Private, loopback and reserved addresses are not supported.

Can an IP lookup identify a person or exact location?

No. IP geolocation is approximate. Shared networks, mobile connections and intermediaries mean an IP address does not reliably identify an individual or street address.

Why are fields missing or lookups unavailable?

Available data varies by address. Missing fields are not guesses. Security verification, request limits or temporary service errors may prevent a lookup; complete verification and wait before retrying.

How can I use this data in my application?

Create an IPWho account to get an API key. Read the IP address lookup documentation and choose a suitable API plan. This interactive demo does not provide unlimited commercial API usage.

Is IPWho the same as ipwhois.io?

No. IPWho and ipwhois.io are separate services. This page is IPWho’s interactive IP lookup tool; our ipwhois.io comparison covers the product differences.
